SUE FOLEY & PETER KARP INTERVIEW
(Originally aired on June 10, 2010)
Sue Foley and Peter Karp were each pursuing individual careers as guitarists, songwriters and performers when their paths crossed at a recording session. An award-winning blues guitarist, Foley has shared the stage or recorded with Lucinda Williams, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, Joe Cocker, Pinetop Perkins, Joe Ely and Tom Petty. Karp plays slide guitar, Hammond B3, piano and blues harp and writes gritty songs about loss and heartache. While out on the road with their respective bands, they began corresponding about life, love and music. Over a period of a year, as their letters became more personal, Karp and Foley realized they’d generated a stack of potential lyrics. They decided to turn their pen-pal experience into an album, and this project became He Said She Said - a sonic portrait of two souls looking for meaning in the world around them.
In our exclusive interview, Foley and Karp take us behind the scenes of He Said She Said and describe the genesis of their creative collaboration. We hear them interact, share stories, and evaluate their musical journey to this point. We'll also listen to tracks from He Said She Said.
